To work with Dilate

• Select the Choose Effect tab from the Menu Bar and then choose Edge. After that click Dilate.

Use the Dilate command to enhance the light areas of an image. The effect is a variation of a standard median-cut filter. It takes a 3 pixel by 3-pixel area and sets the pixels to the maximum value of the area.
